We are seeking a Physician Recruiter to be accountable for the recruitment of physicians and advanced practitioner candidates for our external partners. This position is responsible for all provider recruitment functions including sourcing, outreach visits, conference attendance, phone interviews, reference checks, and building relationships with provider candidates and clients; working in close collaboration with recruiters and managers, and executive teams.

The Physician Recruiter will ensure an effective and quality pipeline of providers are available and well developed to sustain and build the clinics and ministry initiatives. This position serves as the primary point of contact for practice managers, medical directors, directors, Chief Medical Officers, Chief Operating Officers, Chief Executives Offers, etc., for all recruitment and selection of providers. Responsible for all provider recruitment functions including consulting and implementing the sourcing and recruitment services that favorably impact our business objectives, outreach, site visits, conference attendance, reference checking and building relationships with all provider candidates. This individual will deliver high quality service to both internal and external customers. In addition, responsibilities also include developing and maintaining relationships with physicians, group administrators and service area and regional leadership teams. The recruiter holds meetings with Hospital Administration and Medical Group Administration on a frequent basis. The recruiter also serves as a consultant in compensation, contract models and strategic workforce planning. The recruiter is responsible for reporting and special projects at the request of the Administration teams listed above or PS&D leadership.

Engages in critical business discussions to address and understand talent gaps. Requires building strong collaborative working relationships with executive leadership, physician compensation, benefits, strategic business partners, organizational and functional leaders across the system and in each region. Communicates in a proactive, effective and timely manner with stakeholders across the ministry.

The Physician Recruiter is also responsible for aiding the process of hospital and payor credentialing, pre-boarding, and state medical licensure. The ability to understand timelines and deliverables from these functions is critical to ensuring that the process and communication between the teams, hiring managers, and the provider is seamless.

The incumbent performs all duties in an ethical and professional manner that promotes Providence/Swedish/Pacific Medical Centers (and its affiliates) mission, values, and philosophy. In all aspects, he/she serves as a role model for the values and Mission of the organization.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Lead provider hiring business strategies through the development, coordination and delivery of highly sought after provider talent by understanding the strategic needs of the organization, and the competencies required for success

  • Work with service line(s) to do job intake, define job skills and competencies, align expectations and competencies

  • Serve as a talent business consultant to help develop and facilitate internal and external relationships with key functional experts and all level of executive leadership and across the “offices of” (such as Hospital Credentialing, Payor Credentialing, Provider Compensation & Contracting, Human Resources etc.) to build, accelerate, and sustain leadership capability and plan for business outcomes

  • Initiate sourcing-specific materials to support recruitment activities (i.e., practice opportunity summaries, compensation and benefit data, community information, etc.)

  • Update and manage candidate relationship management database (CRM) and/or applicant tracking system (ATS)

  • Collaborate with PS&D Operations and Recruitment Resource Coordinators to ensure requisitions are complete, opened, activities/candidates tracked and closed in ATS

  • Manage recruitment of complex positions such as advance practice nursing, physician assistant, all levels of physicians, allied staff, leadership or hard-to-fill requisitions

  • Negotiate and extend offers in cooperation with provider compensation and regional executives

  • Work with candidates, hiring managers, and internal stakeholders to collaboratively identify solutions to problems that arise in all stages of the recruitment and onboarding process

  • Complete a candidate interview and conduct a background check, license verification, reference check and submit candidate forward to hiring managers

  • Responsible for setting up, facilitating and orchestrating all interviews, site visits, reference checks, FACIS, board checks in conjunction with Resource Recruitment Coordinator. Also includes managing candidate database to ensure completeness of all records

  • Lead recruitment and hiring business strategies through partnering with regional executives, practice managers/medical directors to develop long range recruitment plans. Understand the strategic needs of the organization, and the competencies required for success

  • Demonstrate collaboration and effective two-way communication with key stakeholders across the system and in regions

  • Build relationships with candidates to gain a deeper understanding of motivation and interests, to determine potential fit within the organization, and to create long-term pipelining opportunities

  • Possess advance knowledge of the candidate market across the spectrum of assigned positions and throughout the system in order to best advise Hiring Managers and leadership teams in hiring decisions

  • Develop and maintain thorough understanding of positions recruiting for, including required candidate qualifications, competencies, compensation and motivations. Periodically visit customers’ locations, tour facilities, and achieve a working vocabulary of departmental characteristics. May include gaining an in depth knowledge of technical aspects of positions recruited for, including equipment and methods utilized, and how they compare to competitors’

  • May work with corporate legal staff and corresponding teams on all activities involving immigration

  • Act as the provider recruitment subject matter expert and consults with providers and leaders for relevant information that are critical to practice start up activities. This can include consulting on location codes, cost centers, position codes, people request form processes, recruiting timelines, talent availability, hospital and payor credentialing, pre-boarding, etc.

  • Maintain provider retention strategies to include surveying providers (in conjunction with Resource Recruitment Coordinators) regarding the recruitment process and their experience with Providence at regular intervals during their first year of practice

  • Maintain working knowledge of all service areas and practice opportunities

  • Source and recruit physicians and advanced practitioners in support of all ministries (employed and private practice), in the Providence communities, including cold/warm calling prospects and candidates

  • In partnership with contracting teams, this role will initiate, coordinate and write contracts through our contract database system. Knowledge or income support agreements is a plus

  • Utilization of social media sites including LinkedIn, Indeed, Doximity, etc. for networking and recruitment activities

  • Maintain ties with residency/fellowship programs, in conjunction with PS&D Strategic Outreach team.

  • Attend local and national recruitment conferences

  • Comply with all laws, regulations and requirements of appropriate licensing and accrediting bodies.

  • Assure compliance with confidentiality policies. In accordance with State and Federal laws, maintains confidentiality of employee, patient, and business related information

  • Establishes strong relationships, building trust, open and confidential communication, collaboration, and insight

  • Actively support and incorporate the mission and core values into all PS&D processes and daily activities, while maintaining a positive attitude. Engage in activities that will positively impact individual and team performance

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience

  • Ability to build strategic recruitment plans and sourcing strategy plans, clarify required job skills and competencies with leadership

  • Demonstrated experience reviewing resumes against job requirements, interviewing candidates against qualifications and presenting recommendations to leadership

  • Proven success having sourced candidates using networking, social media, events, competitive intelligence/research, sourcing tools and other programs

  • Experience recruiting for other highly skilled positions with limited talent pool, i.e. similar to executive, provider, healthcare, IT, engineering, or other highly skilled positions

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Participation in a recruitment professional organization preferred (e.g. Association of Staff Physician Recruiters (ASPR), FASPR Fellowship, AIRS Certified Recruiter, NW Recruiter Association, ERE, NAHCR Certified Recruiter)

  • 2 or more recruitment experience

  • Experience consulting with executives and leadership on compensation/offers, market trends, sourcing challenges, candidate interviewing, and recruiting process expectations, accountabilities and service level

  • Previous experience using CRM and ATS
