Providence Health & Services Manager - Environmental Services in Walla Walla, Washington
Providence is calling a Manager Environmental Services (Environmental Services, Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla, Washington. In this position you will:
Demonstrates and sustains compliance with the Caregiver Expectations and Code of Conduct.
Provides leadership and guidance in goal setting, problem solving, resource management, outcomes achievement and performance improvement activities.
Insures that all new hires are thoroughly oriented into the department by going through the EVS Orientation process (see one, do one, and teach one): Reviews new hire progress periodically; Ensures HealthStream requirements are met, and the first 30, 60, and 90 day performance evaluations have been delivered.
Collaborates with Human Resources on personnel issues.
Collaborates with Talent Acquisition on recruitment items including completing requisitions, interviewing, and hiring.
Insures appropriate staff competencies are maintained (orientation, mandatory continuing education).
Continually assesses staffing needs and adjusts staffing assignments as needed to provide optimum patient care and productivity.
Provides input to the Regional Director, Environment of Care in regards to the performance of assigned staff.
Maintains appropriate records to track inventory levels, items ordered and related costs.
Implements inventory control procedures by recommending types of supplies to be ordered, quantity and timing of orders.
Communicates in a timely manner with customers and others to help address issues and concerns
Accurately manages scheduling, approvals, exceptions and all other input that occurs within the timecard/payroll interface, and submit the sheets (after management approval) to the company payroll department on a timely basis.
Assists in the orientation, development and motivation of lead staff member, ensuring the staff is properly trained at all levels and performance standards are met.
Completes reports accurately and on time.
Coaches and train staff effectively in growing and being successful in their current job duties.
Implements EVS service programs which are designed to provide on-going training of personnel and safety programs.
Problem-solve issues that may impact departmental/organizational goals and/or patient care delivery.
Assists Regional Director, Environment of Care in assessing and planning educational needs of staff; Makes recommendations.
Assists staff in development of Process Improvements; Coordinates collection of data and works collaboratively with staff to interpret data and to plan and implement techniques for improvement.
Participates in unit and house-wide quality improvement activities in order to improve patient care, comply with regulatory groups, and drive Core Measures.
Ensure that equipment is clean and in proper working condition; Submits new proposals for equipment as required, including the evaluation of capital purchases.
Coordinates activities with other departments ensuring meeting their expectations.
Understands emergency procedures and internal/external disaster plans.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required qualifications for this position include:
High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
1 year of hospital Environmental Services supervisory experience.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
3 years of hospital Environmental Services management experience.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited educational institution.
Experience working in a Union environment.
