Providence Anesthesia Tech in Walla Walla, Washington


Providence is calling an Anesthesia Tech (Operating Room, Variable, 1.0 FTE) to Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla, Washington. In this position you will:

  • Consistently demonstrate adherence to the principles and requirements outlined in the Commitments and Compliance Integrity Program and any other organization or departmental materials related to compliance with laws, regulatory requirements.

  • Consistently demonstrate adherence to Medicare and Medicaid regulations which directly or indirectly relate to the performance and job expectations.

  • Actively participate in departmental and organization performance improvement activities in accordance with hospital and joint commission standards.

  • Participate in hospital and department specific practices to maintain a clean, safe and comfortable environment for patients and staff.

  • Maintain the security and confidentiality of data and information used in performance of his/her daily duties conforming to hospital policy, laws and regulations as appropriate.

  • Follow established policies and procedures to identify and reduce the risks of acquiring or transmitting infection.

  • Maintain positive working relationships and fosters a cooperative work environment.

  • Communicate clearly and appropriately using age specific standards with patients and families of patients.

  • Communicate in a professional and appropriate manner when interacting with colleagues, supervisors, peers, physicians, etc. Friendly, positive customer relations required.

  • Provide clear, concise, pertinent reports/information.

  • Clean, sterilize, disinfect, stocks order, and maintain the routine anesthesia equipment and supplies. Pulls soon-to-be-outdated supplies in a timely manner.

  • Troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment, ventilators and monitors. Coordinates with Clinical Engineering in maintaining and repairing of anesthesia equipment and monitors.

  • Assist anesthesia providers as needed with technical problems related to equipment.

  • Assist anesthesia providers in monitoring and recording data in the application of cardiac monitoring, pulse oximetry, BP devices and other equipment in critical/non-critical situations.

  • Prepare and assist with line placement, CVP, invasive devices, arterial lines, epidural Caths and others as directed by anesthesia provider.

  • Prepare and assist with general/regional/local anesthesia procedures.

  • Assist with fiber optic intubation.

  • Calibrate and records the anesthesia monitors for accuracy.

  • Disinfect anesthesia equipment, ventilators and monitors. Reviews inventory and assists in ordering anesthesia supplies and medications.

  • Transport sealed, pre-packaged procedures trays that contain sharps and non-narcotics medications for the purpose of stocking rooms in the department (example-Lumbar puncture tray).

  • Review literature to maintain, and report accordingly, current knowledge of equipment failure recalls, warning and other relevant information and provides ongoing in-service of unit staff, anesthesiologist, CRNA’s and others regarding equipment, techniques, and materials/resources.

  • Provide orientation to new staff and new Anesthesia Technicians.

  • Foster environment conducive to positive working atmosphere and collaborative relationships with unit staff, medical staff, administration, and other departments.

  • Serve as a consultant/role model for technical and professional issues with all levels of contacts to facilitate professional growth and development staff.

  • Participate in quality improvement activities.

  • Demonstrate annually skills required.

  • Maintain a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients and families.

  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served in the department.

  • Adhere to standard policies related to infection control, fire and safety, hazardous chemicals, personnel policies and departmental procedures.

  • Outside of performing specific job functions it is expected that all staff members assist with normal routine activities including but not limited to aiding in turn overs, wiping down surfaces, mopping floors, looking for expired items, restocking and help move patients.

  • Expected to perform most job duties independently and in accordance with established departmental and hospital policies and procedures.


  • Employee complete all tasks and duties accurately and timely within assigned shift. Demonstrates initiative to perform job duties autonomously.

  • Attend mandatory and other education offerings per department and hospital requirements. May assist with education on the unit.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Current BLS – Healthcare provider (must be AHA accredited). Provided if not obtained.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • H.S. Diploma or GED or Equivalent from an accredited educational institution.

  • Coursework/Training in Formal health care education, (i.e. LPM, EMT, CNA, MA, ED Tech).

  • Anesthesia technician experience.

  • Two (2) years in a healthcare facility
