Providence is calling a Surgical Technologist (Surgical Services, Evening Shift, Full Time) to Providence Holy Family Hospital in Spokane, Washington. In this position you will:
Accepts and supports the mission and values of Holy Family Hospital.
Supports the Performance Improvement process.
Follows policies related to work attendance and dress code.
Maintains a safe environment for staff, patients, and visitors.
Considers individual needs in communication with patients and staff, including ethical, cultural, psychosocial, religious, and age-specific aspects, to include all ages.
Supports patient rights and the organization’s code of ethical behavior.
Follow the principles and requirements outlined in the Commitments & Compliance Integrity Program Employee Handbook and any other organizational or departmental materials related to compliance with laws and regulatory requirements.
As a Preceptor, provides initial job training and information to the orientees and assesses their ability to fulfill specified responsibilities.
Assists surgeons and nurses in preparation and performance of surgical procedures.
Demonstrates knowledge, technical skills and competency on an annual basis.
Performs in accordance with a skill check list in all specialty areas in the OR.
Provides and follows instructions related to decontamination, inspection, cleaning, and assembly of surgical instruments, as needed.
Maintains a service excellence attitude with patients and families while considering their needs, rights, safety, and legal issues.
Assists with transport of patients for surgery.
Assumes call responsibilities as assigned.
Demonstrates self-direction and professionalism.
Demonstrates good interpersonal skills.
Participates in unit meetings and educational inservices.
Provides professional level of care consistent with patient’s age/developmental stage, culture and other individual needs.
Responsible for patient care in collaboration with Registered Nurse.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Completion of accredited surgical technologist program, with the ability to be certified
Current experience as a registered surgical technologist. Recent completion of an accredited surgical technologist program may be considered as current experience
Registered with the State of Washington, and maintain registration on a yearly basis
One-time certification is required within six (6) months of employment
Maintaining certification is not a requirement. In lieu of being certified the following guidelines must be met: Maintains 10 CE points a year: 5 CE points can be obtained from inservices: 0.5 credit per inservice, 0.5 credit for presenting an inservice; The 5 remaining CE points can be obtained from other sources.
