Providence Health & Services Supervisor - Laboratory in Spokane, Washington

Providence is calling a Supervisor - Laboratory (PHC PMG Clinic OPS, Variable Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Medical Group in Spokane, Washington. Standard hours will be 9 to 6 Monday through

Friday, but there are some early or late meetings and some alternating weekend call for emergent issues.

In this position you will:

  • Be responsible for the oversight of all maintenance, quality control, correlation studies and method validation on all instruments and procedures within the laboratory. Oversee quality improvement projects and efforts in the laboratory while continually monitoring quality output.

  • Maintain or delegate responsibility of maintenance for all instruments, equipment and supplies as necessary. Follow and uphold proper procedure guidelines for cleaning, sterilizing and maintaining equipment.

  • Monitor test analyses and specimen examinations to ensure that acceptable levels of analytic performance are maintained.

  • Assure that all testing procedures are performed according to regulatory guidelines and within turnaround times.

  • Ensure patient test results are not reported until all corrective action has been taken and the test system is functioning properly.

  • Assist Manager in the training and orientation of all testing personnel and laboratory staff. Work with Manager to provide annual performance reviews and competency assessments of all testing personnel. In conjunction with Manager, handle personnel matters and disciplinary actions.

  • Resolve technical problems and ensures that remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Laboratory Science or Health Science

  • Currently certified as a Medical Assistant - Phlebotomist with Washington State

  • Medical Technologist (MT)or Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) (ASCP) or equivalent national certification

  • Basic Life Saving (BLS) Certification (within 90 days of hire)

  • Must meet the requirements for a General Supervisor under CLIA 88 regulations

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Master’s degree in Laboratory Science or Health Science

  • 4 to 6 years of laboratory experience

  • 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience in a medical clinic or similar setting

  • Knowledge of ambulatory care, basic clinic procedures, and schedule management
