Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Sterile Supply Tech (1.0 FTE, Days) to work in Central Distribution Sterile Supplies at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center & Children's Hospital in Spokane, WA.

We are seeking a Sterile Supply Tech to be responsible for the cleaning and assisting in preparation, assembly, packaging and processing of supplies, instruments, basin setups and equipment used on patient floors, surgical, obstetrical and special procedure areas. Must ensure proper techniques and procedures, and include the cleanliness and sterility demanded by the item or items being processed. Assists in maintaining an inventory of sterile supplies and/or instruments on shelves in the L2 area, surgery area(s), Labor & Delivery, Mother Baby and Anesthesia. Acts as Lead when assigned and does assigned tasks.

In this position you will:

  • Inventories selected supplies weekly or as assigned and maintains adequate stock level.

  • Wash, sort and assemble necessary supplies and instruments required to complete specific job functions in decontam and/or case cart area.

  • Correctly inspect and fold linens and supplies used in preparation for sterile pack assembly.

  • As assigned, prepare items for sterilizer loads, properly operates various types of gas sterilizers and aerators, gas plasma sterilizers, steam sterilizers in accordance with policies and procedures.

  • Accurately prepare sterilizer load records and other documentation, which may be required.

  • Comply with BSI Standards/OSHA Blood Borne Pathogen regulations. Wears required personal protective equipment (i.e. goggles, gown and gloves).

  • Consistently meet quantity and quality of work as specified in checklists, inventory sheets and/or schedules and/or PPL’s.

  • Perform other duties requested by the supervisor.

  • Perform transportation of SPD instrumentation/patient care items for and from patient care areas as assigned.

  • Able to pick cases/carts for next day surgical and patient care areas as assigned.

  • Operate instrument washing and ultrasonic cleaning equipment.

  • Handle all instrumentation and equipment according to established policies and procedures.

  • Maintain work area in an organization, efficient manner.

  • Handle sterile supplies properly to prevent contamination.

  • Label instruments/set correctly including proper sterilization method and initials.

Qualifications:

Required qualification for this position include:

  • Acceptable references from former employer(s).

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • High school graduate or equivalent

  • One year experience in Central Processing

  • Medical terminology experience
