Providence RN - Palliative Care in Spokane, Washington
Providence is calling a Registered Nurse (RN) (Palliative Care, Day Shift, 0.8 FTE with 32 hours a week) to Providence Medical Group in Spokane, Washington. In this position you will:
Support and practice the “Spirit of Excellence”.
Consider individual and team needs in communication with, and assessment and treatment of patients and staff, including ethical, cultural, psychosocial, religious, and age-specific aspects, to include adult and the elderly.
Support patient rights and the organization’s code of ethical behavior.
Assist with, or perform, according to scope of practice, a timely assessment of patients, according to policies, procedures, and protocols, taking into account age/developmental stage.
Assist with, or perform, according to scope of practice, patient care activities/treatments, according to departmental policies, procedures, and protocols.
Coordinate necessary tasks involved in treatment delivery.
Evaluate and assess treatment delivery components to include pain management.
Evaluate and assess daily the physiologic and psychological responsiveness of each patient to treatment delivery and documents such care.
Manage rapidly changing situations and is flexible in the changing work environment.
Organize patient-related information.
Be able to perform effective communication with patients, staff, family members, and other physicians.
Be in conjunction with the Supportive Care Medical Director and Manager facilitate leadership, management, direction and development of the adult supportive care programs.
Plan and offer, with approval of Medical Director/ Manager, formal/informal clinical and educational interventions for staff which are consistent with individual and/or organizational needs and goals, evaluate change/outcomes.
Implement patient and family education in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
Provide ongoing support to families engaged in the bereavement process by making referrals or offering follow up as appropriate.
Maintain values congruent with the profession’s code of ethics and scope of practice.
Be responsible for scheduling and completing work assignments on a timely basis and having competencies signed off appropriately.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of Washington
Three (3) years of Nursing experience
Three (3) years prior experience in oncology, medical-surgical, geriatric, critical care, palliative care, and/or nursing care of the terminally ill patient
Has some experience in conflict resolution
Has some collaboration experience
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Hospice and Palliative Care Certification is desirable
Has experience in pediatric and adult nursing.
Three (3) of nursing experience in oncology and supportive care in the inpatient or out-patient setting
Has experience in Clinical nursing care in ICU, oncology, medical-surgical, palliative care nursing and/or hospice
Has experience in providing patient and staff education
Has experience in grief counseling and crisis intervention
