Providence is calling a Refill Pharmacist (Primary Care, Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Medical Group in Spokane, Washington. In this position you will:
The Clinical Pharmacist I assists in all aspects of processing prescription refill requests. The pharmacist will function in accordance with all state and federal rules, regulations, statutes and laws. Using established guidelines and/or protocols, the pharmacist facilitates authorization of medication refills for clinic patients. This includes assuring high quality services to Providence Medical Group patients and clinics, supervising staff, and performing pharmacist review and adjudication of refill requests as needed. The pharmacist will collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, technicians, clinical pharmacy department programs and services to optimize medication therapy. The pharmacist will be an integral part of a multi-disciplinary healthcare team. This position plays a key role in maintaining a high level of patient and provider satisfaction by providing patients with exceptional customer service and serving as the liaison between patients, physicians and pharmacies.
Receives refill requests via electronic secure messaging, fax or phone. Authorizes prescription refills according to SMG Refill Guidelines and/or Protocol using the Electronic Health Record or fax.
Communicates verbally with patient or patient representative all pertinent medication refill information in a manner that is appropriate for age and level of understanding.
Researches medication-related patient health information, and processes and triages requests in a timely manner.
Works collaboratively with physicians, pharmacists, pharmacies, SMG staff and insurance companies.
Responds to changes in workload schedule and re-prioritizes as necessary; continually uses time in a productive manner to meet workload demands.
Reports to the Supervisor/Manager any suggestions for positive changes or recommendations within the scope of the department function, and in view of existing policies and procedures. Contributes to program implementation and standardization as needed. Works with department Supervisor and Manager to promote team unity and a harmonious work place. Participates constructively in department meetings.
Ability to assess a medication regimen for appropriate dosage, indications, drug interactions, adverse effects, efficacy and safety.
Must be able to formulate recommendations when appropriate and communicate clearly and concisely with providers, other health care team members and patients.
Effectively and appropriately responds to patients, pharmacies, pharmacists and clinic staff.
The pharmacist will also assess the drug therapy regimen for opportunities to simplify, optimize management of other disease states, decrease the cost or avoid adverse reactions.
Acts as a clinical and drug information resource for health care providers, department staff and patients.
Maintains good rapport by interacting in conflict or difficult situations in a manner that facilitates constructive resolution.
Attends and participates in meetings as required by supervisor/manager.
Demonstrates a proactive attitude and seeks to remedy situations before an accident or mistake is made.
Precept pharmacy students and residents as assigned.
Required qualifications for this position includes:
- Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree
Active Pharmacist license in the state of Washington
Experience with using Epic/Electronic Medical Record
Pharmacist experience in a refill center
