Providence Health & Services Recreational Therapist in Spokane, Washington
Providence is calling a Recreational Therapist (Recreational Therapy, Day Shift, 0.0 FTE) to Providence St. Joseph Care Center in Spokane, Washington. We are a community of caregivers delivering every day on our Mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all – especially those who are poor and vulnerable.
In this position you will:
Conduct individual assessment to identify the participants’ individual interests/needs.
Develop and implement an appropriate variety of individual and group activities.
Participate in interdisciplinary care planning.
Coordinate the recreation documentation for the group participants.
Assist with training and supervising volunteers and/or youth job program assistants/student interns and their activities.
Lead facility wide participant-centered events.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Therapy
Current Recreational Therapist registration in Washington State
Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Valid Therapeutic Recreation Specialist Certification (CTRS) from National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate for Healthcare Providers
Current Food Handler’s Permit
1 year experience in long-term care or geriatrics

Providence St. Joseph Care Center in Spokane, Washington is located on the campus of Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center & Children's Hospital. Our Transitional Care Unit is designed for patients coming out of the hospital who need skilled nursing care, end of life care, or rehabilitation for those recovering from surgery or who have a functional loss from illness, disease, or an accident. Our Long Term Care unit provides skilled nursing in a residential setting, addressing the needs of our residents through creating a sense of community and home and providing a model of care that is resident-centered.
