Providence Health & Services Mental Health Counselor Associate - Providence Rise Program in Spokane, Washington


Providence is calling a Mental Health Counselor Associate (Rise Program, Day Shift, Full Time) to Providence Medical Group in Spokane, Washington. We are a community of caregivers delivering every day on our Mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all – especially those who are poor and vulnerable.

In this position you will:

  • Evaluate and make decisions on behavioral health needs and level of care for patients.

  • Conduct individual psychotherapy patient interviews.

  • Plan treatment program with individual patients.

  • Provide consultation and treatment planning assistance to primary care team (including MD's, PA's, NP's and RN's).

  • Evaluate patient’s response to therapeutic program and modifies program as appropriate.

  • Evaluate patient’s reaction to medications and informs doctor and PMHNP as necessary.

  • Maintain accurate records, utilizing the problem-oriented approach, on all patients seen.

  • Coordinate patient care, where appropriate, with other treatment personnel or social agencies.

  • Complete the requisitions for charging patients for treatment.

  • Coordinate with the treatment team as consultant to treatment planning and patient care.

  • Participate in in-service training programs to keep abreast of new developments in the field of Mental Health.

  • Coordinate with behavioral health services regarding referrals.

  • Conduct certain public relation activities such as explaining program to referring resources, etc.

  • Keep current on all theoretical and practical applications related to adult and geriatric psychiatry.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling or Behavioral Sciences from an accredited college

  • Must be licensed as a Mental Health Counselor Associate in the State of Washington.

  • Excellent communication skills are required

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • 1 year of Master's level practicum in a behavioral health setting in an accredited college or university internship
