Providence is calling a Electrocardiographic Technician (ECG) (Cardiology Services, Variable, 0.0 FTE, On-Call) to Providence Holy Family Hospital in Spokane, Washington. In this position you will:
Accept and support the mission and values of Holy Family Hospital.
Support the Performance Improvement process.
Maintain a safe environment for staff, patients, and visitors.
Consider individual needs in communication with and assessment and treatment of patients and staff, including ethical, cultural, psychosocial, religious, and age-specific aspects, to include all ages.
Support patient rights and the organization’s code of ethical behavior.
Follow the principles and requirements outlined in the Commitments & Compliance Integrity Program Employee Handbook and any other organizational or departmental materials related to compliance with laws and regulatory requirements.
Assist with, or performs, according to scope of practice, a timely assessment of patients, according to policies, procedures, and protocols, taking into account age/developmental stage.
Assist with, or performs, according to scope of practice, the following patient care activities/treatments, according to departmental policies, procedures, and protocols:
Study patient’s EKG requisition form to obtain vital information needed prior to the test, i.e., past heart disorders or special medication the patient received.
Explain purpose and procedure of the test to the patient.
Instruct patient to remove clothing to expose the chest, arms, and legs.
Attach electrodes to predetermined positions on the arms and legs.
Operate EKG machine.
Attach disposable electrodes to predetermined positions of the chest to record electromotive variations of the heart.
Upon completion of the exam, removes the electrodes from the patient, and the tracing paper from the EKG machine.
Review recordings on the tracing paper from each electrode position, and checks for clarity and for any deviation from the normal.
After physician has studied the tracings and read and signed the EKG, makes and files copies.
Maintain EKG machine and equipment by cleaning and replacing styluses, electrodes, and tracing paper.
Assist in other tasks such as filing, copying, data processing slips, as needed.
Use appropriate judgment and decision making skills.
Position patients in a manner which is safe, utilizing the appropriate safe patient handling equipment and technique, allowing patients to be comfortable both physically and emotionally.
May transport patients to and from departments utilizing proper techniques of body mechanics to protect patients and personal safety.
Qualifications - External
Required qualifications for this position include:
H.S. Diploma or GED including courses in the physical sciences.
Experience sufficient to acquire general familiarity with methods and terminology in commonplace work situations of the occupation.
Sufficient experience to enable the employee to work effectively and independently to provide quality test results.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
