Providence is calling a Principal Cloud - Apps Solutions Engineer to our location in Redmond, WA or Seattle, WA.

Strategic Technology Enablement (STE), part of the Information Services (IS) organization, engages with four non-IS Technology Partners (TPs) within Providence: Marketing-DEX, Community Partnerships, Population Health, Research-Clinical Services. STE and TPs collaborate to ensure strategy alignment between our respective orgs, ensure operational support from IS, and work within a governance and cadence framework.

The Principal Solutions Engineer is a broadly experienced technician with advanced analytical skills, capable of enterprise and solution level architecture and design. The successful candidate will have an advanced knowledge of architecture, systems design, and distributed design with intermediate to advanced programming skills in multiple languages.

The Principal Solutions Engineer plays a key role in the Technology Partner’s cloud and application related projects and scoped initiatives. The Solutions Engineer identifies potential project risks and options for mitigation, working with the partners or project manager to track through resolution. Effectively collaborate and be a liaison with STE Service Delivery Partners, Technology Partners, Cloud Engineering Operations, Security, and the Applications org from request to go-live and ongoing operations. Able to manage conflict, disagreement and ambiguity to achieve objectives in alignment with the underlying strategy. Works closely with the Technology Partner Leadership to manage expectations. Understands that what is requested isn't always the right solution for what they want or need and can assemble the right resources to quickly address and resolve.

The Principal Solutions Engineer will manage the technology partners’ application portfolio and demonstrate full use and application of standard principles, theories, and concepts related to technical discipline and provide solutioning to a variety of problems. Analyze user requirements, develop and implement systems for moderately complex processes. Lead activities of project team in support of applications, projects and goals.

Some specific day to day duties would include:

  • Azure Solution Design / Architecture

  • Application of distributed architecture and design knowledge and experience using tools to provide secure, performant, and effective business solutions

  • Provide architecture and design in Azure cloud environments

  • Produce architecture and high-level design of solutions with gross cost estimates

  • User Access Management

  • IaaS Provisioning

  • PaaS Provisioning

  • Azure Active Directory

  • Marketplace App

  • Apply Cybersecurity Policy / Consult

  • Application Monitoring

  • Application Portfolio Management / APM

  • Application Technical Feasibility

  • Assist IS leadership in developing strategy and technical roadmap

  • Work collaboratively across the organization to determine and/or refine business solution requirements

  • Research and investigate new capabilities of cloud services and other technologies. Provide timely insight and advice to leadership team to permit the leveraging of these technologies in future plans

  • Ensure solutions comply with security, privacy, HIPPA, and other compliance and regulatory requirements

  • Ensure that solutions proposed by Engineering is in alignment with the organization's standards and policies

  • Provide assistance with troubleshooting escalated issues

The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience working in an Agile development environment with geographically distributed teams.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Assist IS leadership in developing strategy and technical roadmap.

  • Work collaboratively across the organization to determine and/or refine business solution requirements.

  • Produce architecture and high-level design of solutions with gross cost estimates.

  • Research and investigate new capabilities of cloud services and other technologies. Provide timely insight and advice to leadership team to permit the leveraging of these technologies in future plans.

  • Ensure solutions comply with security, privacy, HIPPA, and other compliance and regulatory requirements.

  • Ensure that solutions proposed by Engineering is in alignment with the organization's standards and policies.

  • Provide training and mentoring to other team members on architecture, design, and best practices.

  • Provide assistance with troubleshooting issues escalated to engineering including on-call assistance for top priority incidents.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent education/experience.

  • 8 years in role providing relevant experience.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Coursework/Training: Puppet, Chef, Ansible, or other automation tools.

  • Coursework/Training: AWS, Azure, or Google cloud environments.

  • Coursework/Training: Python, C#, Javascript, PowerShell, or other languages.

  • More than 10 years experience in team member or scrum master role using Agile process and practices.
