Providence Chief, Clinical Analytics in Seattle, Washington

Description

THE ROLE

Providence is calling a Chief, Clinical Analytics to work within our footprint states: CA, OR, and/or WA. This position is also open to 100% remote work.

Knowledge workers produce decisions. Providence has world-leading data stores and data infrastructure, but that does not automatically translate into world-leading decision making. We need a visionary leader to help make that happen. Chief, Clinical Analytics is a high profile leadership position within the 200-strong Providence Analytics Center of Excellence (ACOE) whose role is about turning our information assets into great decisions by front-line providers, operations managers and executives.

Making this happen requires that the Chief’s team deliver on two things: products and analyses. Products , such as dashboards and metrics, allow the measurement of performance over time against desired processes and outcomes. Analyses are more open-ended explorations of data that use hypothesis-generation and inferential methods to answer questions, uncover problems and point the way to solutions. Products and analyses will be delivered by the Chief’s team, which will consist of data engineers and product managers, and which will have ready access to data scientists, biostatisticians, human-centered design researchers, UI/UX experts and health services researchers, inside the ACOE and our allied department, the Health Research Accelerator.

The Chief will need to:

  • Deeply understand the strategic and tactical ‘decision needs’ of Providence and its caregivers.

  • Determine how data products and analyses can support these needs.

  • Develop, with their team, a portfolio of work that can provide the required products and analyses, taking into account ‘people, process and technology’.

  • Lead their team in executing this portfolio of work with competence, attention to detail, sensitivity to the user experience and in a reasonable timeline.

Success will require an ability to understand and empathize with the challenges of healthcare executives and front line caregivers, a passion for improving care, creative problem solving skills, a high degree of intellectual curiosity, a love of data, a good understanding of how to work with data, familiarity with methods of inference such as biostatistics, skill in navigating a complex organization and strong leadership abilities. A great candidate will be someone who is excited about the opportunity to work in a world-class data environment with a fantastic data team, who welcomes challenges, and who is willing to solve ‘hard problems’, even ones which have never been solved before.
