THE ROLE

Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Vice President of Real Estate. The position is located in Renton, WA.

The Vice President, Real Estate works under the Chief Financial Officer leading the Real Estate Organization in management, optimization, and transformation of the entire portfolio of real estate assets owned and leased by Providence St Joseph Health. The Vice President will maintain a forward-thinking vision and strategy for real estate that incorporates patient-experience at its core and develop multi-year plans to successfully execute the strategy. The Vice President will actively engage and partner with regional leadership to align and prioritize projects relative to Health 2.0, while ensuring compliance with various local, state, and national regulations. The Vice President of Real Estate will maintain and be accountable for KPIs around PSJH’s portfolio of Real Estate assets, maximizing ROIC while maintaining the highest standards for patient safety and experience.

In this position you will:

  • Define philosophy, guiding principles, and strategy for optimal real estate capital and geographic footprint for care delivery in Health 2.0

  • Develop a system-wide strategy for optimizing real-estate holdings and expenditures centered around patient experience

  • Identify and track key metrics and KPIs to evaluate system real estate assets (acute and ambulatory) and transformation from an operational and financial perspective

  • Evaluate strategic and financial partnerships with external organizations to accelerate the shift to Health 2.0

  • Develop, disseminate, and execute against guiding principles, policies and metrics for lease-administration for PSJH as a lessor and lessee

  • Establish metrics, policies, and monitoring methods for reporting and compliance. Communicate processes for consistent management of real estate assets across the system, including common budgeting and reporting methods

  • Make recommendations to improve the efficiency, design, and delivery of services through subject matter expertise, understanding of patient experience, and industry/market trends

  • Construct and negotiate optimal deal structures across all external parties to the Real Estate organization, identifying transaction risks and opportunities, and making clear recommendations to senior management

  • Provide leadership to senior real estate managers and broader real estate organization and provide oversight of work performed. Provide coaching and performance management

  • Integrate people, process and technology for real estate and construction to meet or exceed system needs and expectations, including developing and implementing service level agreements with each Region

  • Manage end-to-end transaction management aligned to broader real estate strategy, from project planning and negotiation to document review and midstream and final reporting

  • Build and maintain an organizational culture that prioritizes customer focus, service quality, performance, innovation, collaboration, continuous improvement and learning

Qualifications:

REQUIREMENTS

  • Master’s Degree in business administration with preferred focus on leadership, business or finance

  • A minimum of ten years of progressive responsibility in leadership, strategy development, real estate, land use or construction experience

  • Deep experience and understanding of healthcare and the clinical environment

  • The proven ability to develop real estate strategy to achieve measurable results in support of business objectives

  • The proven ability to successfully navigate an acute care facility through a major institution campus master plan

  • A demonstrated track record of success in leading a large and complex organization

  • The proven ability to develop and maintain consensus in a matrixed environment

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a variety of internal and external constituencies and all organizational levels, using excellent written and verbal business correspondence skills.
