Providence Health & Services Supervisor, Enterprise Monitoring – Server & Applications – PSJH in Renton, Washington
Providence is calling a Supervisor, Enterprise Monitoring - Server & Applications to Providence St. Joseph Health in Portland OR, Beaverton OR, or Renton, WA.
We are seeking a Supervisor to be responsible for coordination of all maintenance services of PSJH monitoring tools and the associated equipment, alerting of all critical infrastructure / facility alerts, application performance / outage alerts (as available) and special customer requests.
This role is also accountable for providing deep-dive monitoring to aid in the identification of ongoing performance degradation of applications or infrastructure. They will work with necessary vendors that provide tools, applications or hardware to ensure that we have tooling in place to help trend system performance. In addition, the Supervisor, Enterprise Monitoring is responsible for assisting in the overall management, operation, maintenance and lifecycle of all monitoring tools and devices and reducing duplication in order to provide the most cost effective solution.
In addition, this role works as an extension to the many other technology teams responsible for infrastructure and applications to ensure that all teams have deep insight into the operation and performance of their perviews.
This role works collaboratively with internal IS teams and external vendors to provide highly available and reliable infrastructure services.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Core to this team is to build monitoring / tooling that identifies issues before they become outages. They use collaborative tools to look at equipment from multiple analytical perspective to create a multi-faceted views of application and equipment performance and potential failure.
As a member of the IS Operation team, participates fully in the ownership of issues and incidents both within and outside the scope of Enterprise Monitoring through deep relationships with The Network Operations Center and Network Operations and Engineering.
Responsible for the support of all IS monitoring tools.
Works with the TEO leadership team to identify key trends related to service failures and introduce strategies for remediation and service improvement.
Works with Network Operations Center to establish, operate and escalate via monitoring and automated tools to improve the reliability of IS services and early notification of potential infrastructure failures. Constant interaction with all IS teams to ensure that we proactively apply tooling to our systems and generate automated tickets.
Ensures that all activities of the Data Center organization are performed within the parameters of defined strategy and policy.
Maintains currency on information technology in general and accountable disciplines in particular. Continually evaluates the effectiveness of current strategies, technology and standards, recommending enhancements and modifications through established collaboration mechanisms.
Maintains relationships with key business partners in the IT industry in order to leverage best practices, evaluate emerging technologies, and distribute knowledge internally to inform plans and strategies.
Develops and implements appropriate service delivery models for core functionalities where the IS organization is a trusted adviser in defining, delivering, and improving services for the enterprise and its customers.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Associate’s Degree in Information Services; Business, Healthcare, or Public Administration; or IS Field Or equivalent educ/experience.
5 years Information Services Application understanding, infrastructure building and enterprise Monitoring.
3 years Experience managing Enterprise Monitoring.

Possesses strong technical aptitude
Knowledge of ITIL processes and procedures
Experience in the operations of highly available IT systems and infrastructure
Indepth knowledge of Enterprise Monitoring tools and strategies.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Experience as a Windows, Unix, Linux server administrator, or application or database administrator
Understanding of server, application, and interface technologies (OS’s, Java, .NET, Citrix, Epic, HL7, etc.)
Experience with one or more of the following monitoring technologies: (MS SCOM; BMC Patrol; AppDynamics; New Relic; Compuware; Dynatrace; CA Application Performance Management; ExtraHop)
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Services; Business, Healthcare, or Public Administration; or IS Field Or equivalent educ/experience.
