Providence Health & Services Senior IS Program Manager – Business Analysis in Renton, Washington


Providence is calling a Senior IS Program Manager – Business Analysis to one our location in Portland, OR, Redmond, WA, Seattle, WA, or Renton, WA.

We are seeking a Senior IS Program Manager – Business Analysis to be accountable to successfully planning, business analysis, budget, and lead one or more large, diverse, and complex projects for software development or data solutions. In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Develop projects in alignment with PSJH and HI's strategic plan and objectives. Develops fluency in HI's data strategy and is able to effectively manage through conflict, disagreement and ambiguity to archive project objectives in alignment with that strategy. Maintains the right balance in meeting Client Sponsor objectives, without compromising data strategy. Works closely with the Senior Data Consultants to manage client expectations from initial problem identification through project lifecycle. Understands that what clients request isn't always the right solution for what they want or need and can assemble the right resources to quickly address and resolve.

  • Elicitation, organization, translation, analysis and prioritization of both business level and functional requirements.

  • Assess the scope requirements and translate into resource and cost estimates including developing a timeline and requesting for funding.

  • Work closely with engineering and architecture team to develop a solution model.

  • Work with cross-functional stakeholders to gather requirements, manage implementations, and drive delivery of projects. Manage relationships both within HI and the broader IS teams and with our partners in Legal, Finance, Operations and Regional Ministries or Organizations. Manage numerous requests concurrently and strategically, prioritizing when necessary.

  • Develop the project budget, task dependencies and schedule. Responsible for scope, risk and issue management, including documenting, communicating and facilitating resolutions or mitigation plans. Maintains all project artifacts. Identifies, delivers, and documents organizational, application and human workflows that contribute to policy and procedure updates throughout each project. Initiates business needs assessments, budgets, and risk assessments through standard project management tools.

  • Develops, initiates and manages a communication plan, including regular project status reports. Delivers appropriate integration, training and implementation plans and activities. Ensures open lines of communication internal and external to the project, within and external to HI.

  • Prepare and delivers presentations to senior leadership, management, and other stakeholders.

  • May lead other project managers or project coordinators, and is comfortable collaborating in a team environment while holding self and others accountable to team and project objectives.

  • Effectively manages and mitigates risk of the project by creatively exploring alternatives, effectively resolving conflict of time and resources, and effectively communicating between sponsors, HI Leadership Team, and the project team. Works with resource managers to resolve conflict of priorities.

  • Ability to craft and present a variety of analyses that help articulate HI's return on investment or value proposition to the organization. Utilize highly mathematical models and convert them to a business-driven strategy.

  • Serve as a key member of the HI Leadership Team in helping to drive overall HI technical strategy.

  • Define, measure, and utilize KPIs to improve the overall HI program. Create and document processes, troubleshoot issues and drive continuous process improvement activities across diverse cross-functional teams. Provide insights into HI capacity, resource allocation, and budgets (projects and departmental). Manage cross functional and internal/external communication on portfolio and program deliverables. Contribute to creating and managing HI's operational and capital budget. Manage HI contracts and statements of work with external vendors.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree/Master's Degree in Clinical or business discipline, or equivalent educ/experience.

  • Project Management Certificate or formal training.

  • 10 years experience in leading large, diverse and complex projects while having a well-rounded technical background in current data or web technologies and project management tools.

  • 5 years strong financial, clinical, operations or technical background.

  • 5 years experience with PM methodologies and software, with a preference for agile methodologies.

  • 5 years experience making formal and informal presentations to senior & executive management and key stakeholders.

  • 5 years strategic planning, change management or risk management experience.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • 5 years of experience with business analysis

  • CBAP Certified by IBA

  • Scrum Master Certified

  • Experience in Agile / Scrum

  • Experience in SAFe
