Providence Health & Services Principal Consultant Operational Excellence in Renton, Washington
Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Principal Consultant Operational Excellence to join our Operational Excellence (OpEx) team in Renton, WA.
OpEx an internal consulting group that is working to transform and modernize the Resource Engineering and Hospitality Group (REHG). This includes evaluating performance, strategic planning, service architecture design and implementation in collaboration with business owners primarily across business operations improvement, cost-savings and strategic programs. The objective of each engagement is to elevate the performance of the function materially (e.g., substantial improvement in performance, cost, etc.) based on REH's priorities. The Principal Consultant Operational Excellence is responsible for providing program management, strategic project management, process and system improvement, analysis, and strategic decision-making support to REHG Executive and Senior Leadership and their functions. This position manages in-person and virtual teams from concept phase through transition to operations of large, complex, strategically-essential, high risk, cross-functional and cross-regional system initiatives and related projects. This position fills a key position as an analytic and strategic business partner to executive and senior leadership, flexibly responding to needs and enhancing the internal capability within the organization to develop and drive change.
In this position you will:
Lead development of senior executive chartered projects/initiatives/business transformation from concept phase through transition to operations using combination of analytical, process improvement, systems thinking, project management, change management, facilitation, and business management expertise. Ensures tracking of financial, human, and technical objectives for each project. Provides process, initiative and project status reporting to executive sponsor, initiative owner, project team, and other stakeholders as requested. Develops project-specific escalation and issue management protocols.
Independently conduct strategic assessments, analysis and continuous evaluation of core value streams and systems, using advanced analytics, lean six sigma and systems thinking tools, modeling and methodologies. In partnership with senior and executive leaders, creates business cases and business plans for initiatives. Develops initiative-specific implementation plans and manages activities against the plans. Sets up and leads multi-disciplinary work teams. Ensures effective communication, training, and post-implementation support strategies are created and implemented among all stakeholder groups.
Lead strategic projects/initiatives/business transformations designed to evolve the improvement maturity level of REHG and their clinical and administrative partners.
Work to identify, implement, and monitor REHG system-wide strategic initiatives, projects, and goals by working with PSJH and REHG leaders in the development and documentation of charters, objectives and metrics, action plans, stakeholder engagement and communication plans, and monitoring systems.
Engage stakeholders in solving unpredictable problems. Utilizes change management and performance improvement tools. Builds awareness and commitment to the change effort, and leads the ongoing communications and alignment of stakeholders throughout the process. Conducts post-initiative assessments and makes recommendations for improvement based on those assessments.
Partner with the Information Services Project Management Office (PMO) and the REHG Business Intelligence and Performance team on information services projects. Partners with other functional or regional Operational Excellence, Business Process Engineering, and PMOs as appropriate.
Share best practices with other members of the REHG Executive and Senior Leadership teams, Operational Excellence team and other Shared Services departments as a way of improving upon the collective development of Leaders, caregivers and team members.
Support proactive identification, mentoring, and spread of effective operational excellence, process improvement and strategic project management tools, systems, and structures as part of the Operational Excellence team and in collaboration with other regional Operational Excellence, Business Process Engineering, and PMOs throughout PSJH.
Provide direct support for REHG executive and senior management and clinical and administrative partners, through agenda planning, meeting facilitation, action-item tracking, analysis, communication documentation, process improvement and project management as assigned. Plans, leads, and facilitates management group meetings as requested.
Design learning and strategic sessions and facilitates management groups in the development of strategic plans and related strategies and key messages, as assigned. Supports processes to develop charters and goals and then monitors progress for PSJH management groups, as assigned.
Support the Executive Director of Operational Excellence and Director of Strategy and Business Design in lean leader development of the Operational Excellence team and other REHG leaders and potential leaders.
Stay informed on industry trends and innovation in REHG service segments and ensure best practices, disruptive technologies and key industry developments and disseminated across REH.
Work closely with caregivers in the field, clinical and administrative partners/customers, and Providence and REHG leadership to gather "voice of customer" data/information, and deeply understand current state performance and opportunities for future state optimization.
Perform other duties and special projects as required and assigned.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Operations Research or Engineering, or has demonstrated required skills in a similar field or equivalent experience (i.e., consulting, enterprise strategy) or equivalent educ/experience
8 years progressively increasing responsibility in management level (project and/or people) experience with facilitation, process improvement, problem solving, and project management of complex, multi-regional, strategically important initiatives
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Master's Degree in Engineering, Accounting, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Operations Research, Public Administration or equivalent education/experience
3 years experience in business design with demonstrated experience in leading cross-functional teams to design and innovate in business processes and services.
Experience in healthcare operations.
Skilled in change management.
Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or Master Black Belt
Coaching and/or Facilitation Certification
