Providence Health & Services Director, ERP Technical Applications PSJH in Renton, Washington


Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Director, ERP Technical Applications PSJH to our location in Renton, WA.

We are seeking a Director, ERP Applications PSJH to manage a portfolio of ERP projects- core ERP and reporting solutions - throughout their lifecycle, paying close attention to size, scope, and budget of numerous projects. The candidate will be responsible for the implementation, operation and continuous improvement of the ERP and data warehouse systems that supports nearly all aspects of the our business.

The candidate will provide excellence in application strategic alignment and operations for Providence St Joseph Health and affiliated organizations related to business and ERP applications. Essential job responsibilities include strategy development and execution of application support for a large portfolio of applications spanning several service lines. Responsible for working with governing groups, executives, vendors, technical architects and analysts to ensure that services are provided to support the application lifecycle at a strategic and operational level in alignment with the goals of the organization. Develops recommendations on local, regional and enterprise application investments. Development and adherence to intake processes and demand management are key components of this work. Responsible to define and lead enterprise-level strategic methodology in collaboration with peers across the organization and services that support the applications throughout the lifecycle. Additionally, will be responsible for the application affiliate/acquisition process and resources to include vendor legacy support.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Maintain relationships with key business partners and other senior leaders in the IT industry in order to leverage best practices, evaluate and manage emerging application technologies.

  • Direct adoption process for introducing and implementing new services, technologies and/or applications into Information Services.

  • Partner with TEO and Application leaders to implement process to improve application operations in the areas of major incident management and problem management. Leads the application team involvement in infrastructure updates, maintaining applications on currently supported OS and db versions, data center moves, and other technology efforts.

  • Responsible for working with leaders of IS Strategy, Business Development and Clinical governance in ensuring adherence to standards, and continuously evaluating the effectiveness of application systems.

  • Ensure that the Applications division supports IS services and systems effectively and meets the needs of the business.

  • Manage customer expectations regarding the success of each Information Services strategies and projects; ensure measurable outcomes are defined and reported for each strategy or project.

  • Develop and negotiate preferred information technology vendor contracts and manages key vendor relationships.

  • Oversee budgeting and expenditures for applications, staff and services within their span of control.

  • Direct and oversee compliance with policies and procedures for Application Services that impact all of PSJH.

  • Develop budgets and the expenditures for information services related to the project portfolio within their span of control in partnership with other senior leaders and the PMO.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business Management or Information Services or equivalent education/experience

  • 8 years leadership experience

  • 10 years relevant experience or equivalent combination of relevant experience

  • Demonstrated analytical skills

  • Strong verbal communication and listening skills

  • Build and manage effective teams

  • Able to influence internal and/or external constituents

  • Able to drive multiple projects to successful completion

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Broad experience with integrations

  • Strong vendor management experience

  • Roadmap alignment with boundary systems (example: interaction of ERP with Epic)

  • Reporting framework/warehouse experience

  • Master's Degree in Information Services, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related IS or healthcare field
