Providence Health & Services Director ‐ EMR Delivered Solutions - PSJH in Renton, Washington


Providence is calling a Director ‐ EMR Delivered Solutions to Providence Health & Services in Renton, WA.

We are seeking a Director ‐ EMR Delivered Solutions to be be accountable for understanding the PSJH strategy and where the EMR delivered data products support that strategy more appropriately than HI custom delivered solutions. This leader will be accountable for delivering EMR Reporting and Analytics (R&A)/data solutions to all Healthcare Intelligence customers, internal and external to PSJH. This leader will deliver high quality and timely data solutions to the organization, consistent with PSJH strategy.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Build effective and enduring relationships with IS leaders (PMO, business partners, ECO, Applications) to align HI solutions with EMR implementation strategy. Work with the HI Leadership Team to make appropriate buy/build decisions in the context of EMR solutions and roadmap. Work closely with Client Engagement to understand when an EMR delivered solution (i.e. universe enhancement) is more appropriate than one internally developed by HI.

  • Accountable for the analyst teams responsible for EMR delivered R&A/data solutions, and, leading by example, develop an in‐depth understanding of the interaction of EMR delivered R&A with other HI tools and capabilities ‐ where each is appropriate, and work to ensure an integrated roadmap of product delivery across all HI teams.

  • Accountable for delivery of EMR delivered R&A/data solutions, which includes creating and adhering to report and universe software development life cycle (SDLC) supporting EMR go lives and upgrades, and supporting ECO efforts.

  • Accountable for developing, communicating, and executing on a roadmap that clarifies work in flight and in the pipeline (i.e. universe

  • enhancements). Accountable for establishing department measures of success and working with the Manager or Supervisor to mentor and develop analysts to achieve those objectives.

  • Demonstrate interest in and aptitude for the business and technical issues encountered across the HI client base, and ensure EMR delivered R&A/data solutions support the clients' business objectives. Work with the Manager or Supervisor to build each analysts' understanding to steadily improve the quality and relevance of delivered solutions, as evidenced by appropriate measures of success.

  • Accountable for working closely with IS leaders to assess new EMR work and ensure teams are aligned on delivery or impact to other deliverables. Negotiate for achievable timelines, while inspiring the team to continuously improve and innovate.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Technical IS, Clinical Field, Business Admin.

  • 10 years Management of teams, fostering of accountability, morale, performance. Ability to develop and mentor individuals and address conflict effectively.

  • 8 years’ experience fixing things in either a healthcare operations or technical setting, and experience designing and improving processes.

  • 5 years Demonstrated ability to apply analytics to solve business problems.

  • Ability to drive multiple projects to successful completion.

  • Ability to influence internal and/or external constituents.

  • Instills commitment to organizational goals

  • Excellent collaboration and team building skills

  • Demonstrated problem solving skills

  • Be organizationally savvy ‐ politically aware and agile, knows the right thing to do, presents views and arguments effectively.

  • Have exceptional interpersonal skills with a capability to gain the confidence and respect of senior executives and team members without needing to be hand‐held or requiring supervision.

  • Have experience fixing things in either a healthcare operations or technical setting, and experience designing and improving processes.

  • Manage diverse relationships ‐ relate well to a wide variety of styles. Open to differences.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Master’s Degree Technical IS or Clinical Field Or equivalent educ/experience.

  • 10 years’ experience in a technical field, with an emphasis on EMR/EHR operations.
