Providence Health & Services Chief Executive - On Demand in Renton, Washington
Providence is calling for a Chief Executive to lead our On Demand business across the health system. This person will ideally be located in our Seattle, Portland or Southern California market.
The Chief Executive, Providence On Demand, Ambulatory Care Network (ACN) has direct P&L responsibility for the majority of Urgent Care, ExpressCare, and the ExpressCare virtual enterprises across all seven states where Providence operates. In addition, the CE is responsible for assuring short- and long-term organizational success by providing strategic vision and leadership for the growth of the enterprise ensuring the highest focus on consumer experience, quality and integration with existing clinical services within the Providence enterprise.
Key Working Relationships
The Chief Executive reports to the EVP of the ACN. In addition to the direct and matrixed reports, the key stakeholders are both internal and external to the ACN.
Within the ACN, the CE must work to align efforts with the leaders of the other ACN Pillars – Ambulatory Imaging, Ambulatory Surgery Centers, and HMR. The CE will also be the owner of the clinical services relationship with Walgreens.
Across Providence, the CE of On Demand must work with leaders of the Lines of Business – Physician Enterprise, senior and community services and the Clinical Partnerships to create a seamless patient experience across multiple care verticals.
Specifically, this position works closely with the COO’s, CMO’s and CSO’s in each market to ensure that there is integration of clinical offerings and synergies with local growth strategies and partners closely with Mission Integration across the organization.
Serves as a transformational leader and member of the Ambulatory Care senior leadership team; working collaboratively to achieve strategic and operational goals as outlined in the integrated strategic and financial plan and as directed by the EVP-Ambulatory Care Network Division.
Collaborates in the development of strategies including areas such as finance, operations, payor relationships, joint ventures, acquisitions, clinical services, organic/inorganic growth and the translation of those strategies into effective business plans and objectives.
Navigates relationships at all levels within a complex, relationship-based organization; utilizing direct and indirect influence to improve alignment, management, and performance of assets.
Leads and develops high-performing teams and serves as a role model, directly supervising and developing talent within the organization and cultivating engagement.
Creating a shared vision that keeps the patient at the center of the experience.
Leading the clinical and operational teams of over 1200 employees to deliver on the PSJH brand promise of ‘Know me, care for me, ease my way.’
Leading organizational structure design processes to better integrate On Demand within each market and across PSJH, including planning and building new structures to support ExpressCare optimization, integration and growth.
Direct line responsibility for the financial performance of all On Demand programs and products.
Delivering on experience targets for patient experience, caregiver experience and provider engagement.
Setting direction and accountability for the support from marketing and digital innovation to deliver on performance targets.
Developing strategies and overseeing development and deployment of digital tools across in partnership with the other pillars in the ACN.
Set the business needs for the technology stack to ensure that On Demand enhances and improves consumer engagement and experience.
Driving the evolution of ExpressCare, ExpressCare Virtual, and Urgent Care scope of services such that they are continuing to serve consumer needs in our communities today and in the future.
Developing the strategic roadmap of the On Demand service line across the enterprise.
Regulatory compliance oversight and activities.
Monitoring all clinical workflows and developing best-practice process improvement plans to improve customers experience in partnership with the Chief Clinical Officer of the ACN.
Leading the On Demand business to meet goals and deliver outstanding results around performance, patient experience, and provider/caregiver engagement.
Actively engages with executive stakeholders in the ACN and in PSJH to develop and execute strategic plans for ExpressCare.
Working with PSJH leaders to develop services and programs to meet patient needs and promote the overall success of the organization.
Managing and leading change in the organization that promotes performance improvement, quality, operational excellence, service and innovation within the organization.
Promoting a culture of quality and service with the patient at the center of care.
Ensuring compliance with policies and procedures including the recording of community benefit services and costs.
Defining and driving strategies, budgets, goals, and objective taking in coordination with the ACN leadership team.
Serves on appropriate committees dedicated to strategic retail, digital and innovation planning performance improvement.
Creating, recommending, and supporting implementation of new programs to increase and maintain recommendations for improvements.
Overseeing selection, training, disciplining, terminating, and performance improvement. Mentors leaders and supports career planning and professional development.
Conducting performance appraisal of direct reports and provide them with positive feedback and critical input as required. Addressing performance problems in a timely manner.
Actively engaging with internal and external healthcare committees, councils, boards, and volunteer roles that impact local and national healthcare. Acting as a change agent as well as representative of the ACN executive team within Providence.
Providing expertise on direct key strategic questions from outside sources. Speaking on local and national stages about the retail products and solutions the organization is delivering on.
Required experience/education for this position include:
Master’s Degree in HealthCare Administration, Business Administration or comparable field. Clinician Degree (MD, DO, APP, RN) is strongly preferred with experience in Primary Care.
Experience as a healthcare leader with a minimum of 8-10 years of proven track record in multiple areas of healthcare management, operations, and corporate functions.
Board certification in a relevant field is required.
Clinical knowledge in relevant specialty pertaining to the clinical scope of services delivered in the on demand setting.
Proven change management skills including crafting of strategic direction, working with institutional infrastructure and processes and effectively directing/managing tactical processes.
Must be adaptable: dealing with daily operations, related problem solving, physician relations, while retaining strategic focus and driving for long-term results.
Knowledge and skills in medical group management and health systems operations and reimbursement are highly desired.
Ability to achieve goals in a working environment that uses multiple modalities of communication and computer applications. Must be skilled in verbal and written
