Providence is calling a Registered Nurse (RN) Patient Placement (0.9 FTE, Evening Shift) to the Nursing Administration Resources Department in Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, WA.

We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) Patient Placement to be responsible for high level assessment and quick initiation of level of care decisions for patients requiring admission or transfer to an inpatient setting. The Patient Placement RN’s goal is to provide high quality, individualized, cost effective placement of patients; to prioritize and make decisions for timely transfers based on acuity, diagnosis, bed availability, and unit staffing. The Patient Placement RN collaborates with physicians, administrative supervisors, Clinical Managers and/or charge nurses, admitting, and others as needed to define and achieve accurate admission and placement outcomes

In this position you will:

  • Coordinate and facilitates the transfer of patients from other health care facilities.

  • Review all elective, urgent or emergency admissions, transfers and discharges from all entry access points.

  • Identify appropriate bed placement of all patients according to medical needs with subsequent transfers to appropriate nursing units. Ensures safe and timely placement of patients based on admission status, physician requested level of care, patient’s clinical information and nursing units admission/discharge criteria.

  • Appropriately and in a timely manner, communicate discharge times and unit transfer information.

  • Consult with charge nurses regarding special care needs, ability to care for patients with unit’s scope of service and bed availability

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Current Washington State Registered Nurse License.

  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS).

  • 3 years experience in acute care setting.

  • Clinical experience sufficient to understand and communicate medical diagnosis and course of treatment to professional and nonprofessional personnel.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
