Providence Health & Services RN - Lactation in Olympia, Washington
Providence is calling a Per Diem, 8 Hour Day Shift, Registered Nurse to Lactation in the Labor and Delivery Department at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, Washington.
Accountable for the direct and indirect care for infants and women both in the inpatient or outpatient clinic setting. Develops feeding plans to address the nutritional needs of the infant that may include but is not limited to breastfeeding support, breast pumping support, and supplementation as appropriate. Provides lactation support and education to inpatients. Provides lactation support and education as directed by referral in the outpatient clinic setting after discharge. Performs all duties in a manner that supports team concept caring and respect reflecting the philosophy of the Department of nursing and the Sisters of Providence Mission. Demonstrates personal and interpersonal qualities that support the Core Values of Providence Health & Services.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Nursing degree/diploma required upon hire.
All Registered Nurses without a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing must obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or higher within 3 years of hire.
A RN with 20 years of RN experience will not be required to obtain a BSN
Active Washington state RN license.
Experience providing lactation care in a Labor and Delivery, Post-Partum, or SCN department or in an outpatient mother baby clinical setting.
Knowledge of community resources related to lactation services and programs.
Current IBCLC (International Board of Certified Lactation Consultants) certification upon hire.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers. Card must be from the following authorized governing bodies: American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or Military Training Network (MTN) upon hire.
Other Qualifications: Strong interpersonal skills to relate to families, community, and other disciplines, including physicians. Work schedule varies to meet department needs. Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks. Ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care of infants and postpartum women during the course of breastfeeding. Demonstrated ability to work independently and on interdepartmental healthcare teams. Ability to use personal computer and software applications.
