The Occupational Therapist provides direct and indirect occupational therapy services including assessment, intervention, program planning and implementation, discharge planning, related documentation and communication. Service delivery may include direct, monitored and consultative approaches. OTR practitioners advance along a continuum from entry to advanced level based on experience, education and practice skills. The OTR has the ultimate responsibility for service provision. Functions according to the AOTA Code of Ethics and standards of the profession.
In this position you will:
Provide initial patient evaluation in accordance to physician request in order to initiate appropriate treatment, which is reasonable in the terms of accepted practice and necessary to recovery of function.
Establish treatment goals and plan of care based on assessment and test results.
Provide therapy treatment to restore function, relieve pain, and prevent disability.
Selects and delegates appropriate portions of the treatment plan and program to supportive personnel based on their assessed competence.
Re-evaluation of patient and adjustments in treatment plan is based on acceptable practices.
Instruct the patient to achieve maximum compliance with treatment and results in a minimal amount of time or provide education to patients and their families to achieve maximal results.
Utilized appropriate documentation in accordance to department policy and consistent with profession practices regulatory agencies and insurance providers.
Notify, consult, and confer with physicians, regulatory agencies, insurance companies and other professional staff as needed regarding patient care.
Provide competent care appropriate to the patient population as appropriate: Neonate; Pediatric; Adolescent; Adult; Older Adult:
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy or Baccalaureate degree and a certification or advanced degree from an institution of higher learning accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association
WA State DOH Occupational Therapy License
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Certified Hand Therapist (CHT)
