Providence Emergency Center Technician in Olympia, Washington
Providence is calling an Emergency Center Technician (0.9 FTE, Evening Shift) to work in Emergency Services at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, WA.
An Emergency Center Technician (ECT) provides nursing care, phlebotomy, splinting and patient support services in the Emergency Center under the supervision of the nurses and Physicians.
In this position you will:
Preparing patients for exams/procedures. Participate in patient care using unit and hospital based policies and procedures and works within the scope of practice.
Utilize information provided by chart or Nurse to assist patient for exam/procedure. Use unit developed standards for patient preparation. Approach individuals with an understanding of age related differences.
Incorporate knowledge of growth and development into care.
Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to deliver care to cognitively impaired patients.
Provide ambulation assistance to patients and assists and monitors patient safety.
Demonstrate knowledge of the safe use of crutches, walkers and canes. Maintain gurney in lowered and locked position with call bell in place and side rails up.
Apply, monitor and trouble shoot traction splints.
Demonstrate the ability to apply and monitor Hare traction splints and KTD splints. Complete CMS checks while splint is in place.
Apply and assess plaster and fiberglass extremity splints.
Demonstrate advanced knowledge of material selection. Apply simple and complex external splints including volar, thumb spica, long arm splint, posterior ankle splint. Act under the direction of the MD/PA/ARNP to complete complex or unique splints.
Assist with activities of daily living as applied in the EC.
Assist patient to commode, and apply knowledge of basic hygiene needs to the out patient setting.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Valid State of Washington Nursing Assistant Certification (without restrictions)
Medical Assistant Phlebotomist Certification (MA-P)
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) for Healthcare Providers
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
High School diploma or equivalent education
Experience in an Emergency Department
Ability to work in fast paced environment
