Providence Chief Executive, Northwest Washington Service Area in Everett, Washington
The Chief Executive will be responsible for the operations of the Northwest Washington Service Area. The position provides operational and strategic leadership to ensure the delivery of high quality, cost-effective health care consistent with the Mission, Values, goals and objectives of the Northwest Washington Service Area, the Washington/Montana Region and Providence Health & Services (PH & S). The position works collaboratively with Service Area, Regional, and System leaders to develop and implement clinical programs and services that are integral to the operational and strategic success of the Region. The position leads the Service Area Community Ministry Board and actively engages with the Board President along with each individual Board Member.
The Northwest Washington Service Area extends from the King/Snohomish County line to the south, Whidbey Island to the West, the Cascade Mountains to the East, and the Canadian Border to the North. The Northwest Washington Service Area includes Providence Everett Medical Center Colby, Mill Creek and Pacific Campus and Providence Physician Group. Gross revenues exceed $1 billion and operating expenses approximately $500 million.
The Chief Executive – Northwest Service Area will be accountable for the following:
Effectively coordinates the integration efforts of System, Regional and Service Area based programs to maximize existing resources and expands services to meet community needs.
Actively participates in strategic planning and budgetary formation in conjunction with the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Strategy Officer to ensure strong and focused operational and financial management of the Service Area.
Responsible for coordination of business development and service line priorities within the service area by working closely with Finance, Human Resources, Operations, Medical Staff and leadership on planning, financial performance and resource management.
Participates in the coordination and review of all expansion of facilities.
Confers with facilities experts on plant facility issues.
Coordinates engagement initiatives by reviewing appropriate surveys establishing quality improvement goals and insures issue resolutions on all customer-driven feedback.
Looks for opportunities to advance patient and family centered care.
Addresses communication and opportunities for caregivers to ensure caregivers are engaged in their work.
Supports the Community Ministry Board and actively engages with the Board President along with each individual Board Member.
Supports and Manages the Senior Leadership Team
Enhances professional growth and development of the Senior Leadership team as well as themselves.
Maintains professional affiliations such as ACHE or another professional leadership organization.
May serve as facilitator for management and leadership training programs.
Supports the medical staff leadership in ensuring safe, high quality operations.
Works with the CMO to ensure resources are allocated to support medical staff functions.
Responsible for coordination or support of regulatory agency compliance readiness.
Works closely with all centralized system support teams to ensure high quality service by the division to the northwest service area.
Actively engages in the WA/MT regional meetings and work.
Responsible for ensuring contracts are completed timely, accurately and with financial acumen.
Ensures the core values and mission are forefront of all operational activities.
Maintains confidentiality of records or medical center information at all times
Confidential information & conversations are secured from general public access.
Ensure all faxes and other communications between the RC, the lead node, and the data management centers adhere to federal regulations.
Maintains full knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
Performs other duties as assigned
- Willingly accepts projects and work assignments as assigned by manager.
Required experience/education for this position include:
Master’s Degree in Health and/or Hospital Administration, Master’s in Business Administration or related field.
At least six years of senior level leadership experience, preferable as a CEO or COO in an acute health care delivery organization
Should have personal values compatible with those of the Sisters of Providence and be comfortable in leading a Catholic sponsored organization.
A record of forming and implementing a vision for an organization.
Broad knowledge and understanding of the trends and changes taking place in health care and their implications.
Strong understanding of financial management, cost analysis, information systems, and contracting.
Strong human resources knowledge and skills, preferably experience in a union represented environment.
Possess excellent interpersonal skills.
Experience in physician/customer relations skills built upon a “can do” attitude and positive, upbeat demeanor.
Excellent problem solving skills.
Must have evidence of a strong ability to lead teams and maintain positive professional development.
Experience with physicians and demonstrated ability to work with medical staff leaders.
Ability to provide credible oversight to the leadership team.
Ability to articulate the mission of Providence St. Joseph Health to employees, physicians, and other providers and groups.
