Providence Health & Services Admitting Representative - Patient Registration in Everett, Washington

Providence is calling an Admitting Representative (0.0 FTE, Variable) to work in the Patient Registration at Providence Regional Medical Center Everett in Everett, WA

The Admitting Representative ensures that all demographic and insurance information is captured in a timely and accurate manner in our Medical Record system. Prepares and coordinates the distribution of patient information to nursing units and ancillary departments. Adheres to all compliance and regulatory requirements. Collects patient co-payments, pre-payments and payments due. Works side by side with the clinical team in the emergency room setting.

In this position you will:

  • Demonstrate age specific patient care considerations for the population served

  • Demonstrate application of knowledge, skills, and behaviors in the physical, motor/sensory, cognitive, psychosocial, patient and family education areas based on PRMCE age specific care competency assessment tool

  • Ensure each account is registered accurately and completed prior to final billing

  • Register patient by collecting insurance and demographic information

  • Secure patient’s consent for treatment/billing.

  • When appropriate secures patients consent for treatment and billing

  • Complete task in a timely manner

  • Collect deposits and/or co-payments as appropriate

  • Notify patients of their insurance co-payment responsibilities

  • Update incomplete registration data

  • Audits Work Ques Fail Bill and other pre-billing reports on a daily basis

  • If working in Radiology/Breast Center area, places radiology order in the electronic medical record and notifies modality that patient has arrived

  • Develop and maintains the Patient Safety Database

  • Enter required information according to department time standards, audits entry to ensure accuracy, and produces prescribed reports for distribution to Patient Safety Committee

  • Provide staff support to a variety of committees

  • Create and distributes agendas, attends meetings to take minutes, prepares and distributes accurate minutes that are timely, maintains all meeting records

  • Assist manager with staffing schedules and time card completion

  • If working in Admitting Department, ensures that all departmental guidelines, protocols and policies are followed

  • If working in Radiology/Breast Center, coordinates activities with film library and scheduling office

  • Assist in Department coverage

  • Participate in the team effort adjust work schedules due to unexpected absences

  • Maintain confidentiality of records or medical center information at all times

  • Confidential information & conversations are secured from general public access

  • Ensure all faxes and other communications between the RC, the lead node, and the data management centers adhere to federal regulations

  • Maintain full knowledge of HIPAA regulations

  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Willingly accepts projects and work assignments as assigned by manager

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • One (1) year of experience in Customer Service or healthcare registration

Preferred qualifications for this position includes:

  • Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) or Certified Revenue Cycle Specialist (CRCS)

  • Registrar and third party payor experience

  • Hospital patient access or billing, medical office receptionist, insurance office experience

  • Working knowledge of office equipment; printers and fax machines

  • Proficiency in MS Office

  • Experience in Data Entry
