Sleep Technologist - Respiratory Care Practitioner / Respiratory Therapist - Sleep Laboratory at Providence Mount Carmel Hospital

Under the supervision of the Manager of Respiratory Care Services, the Sleep Technologist is responsible for helping maintain or restore maximum functioning of the patient's cardiopulmonary system in accordance with physician orders and/or departmental protocols. Required to exercise initiative in developing ideas or in responding to or adjusting problem situations. Typically reports to the supervisor who evaluates ideas. Work processes and assignments for patients of all ages frequently require the incumbent to interpret and apply operating procedures, technical standards, and/or protocols to problems of varying degrees of complexity.

The Sleep Technologist provides quality diagnostic sleep services to patients of all ages, adjusting approach to meet the age specific needs of assigned patients. Responsible for calibration and quality control of diagnostic sleep equipment. Assures that reports are accurate and ready for interpreting physician in a timely manner. Scores polysomnographic recordings accurately and records pertinent technical notes to aid reading physicians in diagnosis of sleep disorders. Participates in performance improvement activities as requested in an effort to continually improve the quality of services offered. Reports to Manager of Respiratory Care.

This is a part-time, night shift position working 48 hours per two-week pay period.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education sufficient for license/registration

  • Registry as a Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) through the BRPT (upon hire)

  • One (1) year of sufficient experience to enable the employee to work effectively in commonplace work situations and to provide a working knowledge of the principles, practices, standards, methods, and techniques of the Respiratory Care field/Sleep Study field; usually interpreted as less than three years but more than one year of applicable experience
