The Pharmacy Practice Resident, during the one-year training program, is responsible for developing the skills, knowledge and attitude necessary for the provision of high quality pharmaceutical care.
In this position you will:
Review and interprets physicians’ orders to assure that the drug, dosage form, and dose is appropriate for the patient’s age, weight, condition and comorbidities. Checks for drug incompatibilities and allergies, and takes appropriate action when necessary.
Review patient records and orders regarding drug therapy, recommends and initiates changes that are consistent with the patient’s age; is successful in improving patient outcome through monitoring and intervention consistently.
As required, regularly consults with physicians and nursing staff members concerning the use, availability, dosage form, side effects and possible incompatibilities of new as well as currently used drugs; always takes time to clearly explain information to concerned patients.
Follow proper computer order entry procedures.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor of Science from an accredited School of Pharmacy
Experience in hospital pharmacy practices as a student, intern or pharmacist preferred.
Active Washington State Pharmacist license.
Pharmacy Intern License may substitute for Pharmacist within the first 120 days of employment with a licensed Pharmacists’ supervision.
