Providence Health & Services Systems Specialist in Olympia, Washington


Providence is calling a Systems Specialist to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, WA.

This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), day shift position.

We are seeking a Systems Specialist to assist in the development, use, and directed improvements of the information systems and databases within the Facility and Technology Services department. The Systems Specialist functions as a technical specialist in supporting administrative systems and acts as a liaison between Facility and Technology Services, Finance, and Information Services by linking knowledge of department work processes with technical system understanding.

He or she is integral in enhancing system capabilities and accuracy by assisting with database design, modifications, new functionality, and upgrades; works collaboratively with F&TS staff and assists in identifying F&TS computer needs and requirements; Assists the System Support Manager in review of department systems, processes and practice.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Associates Degree in Information Management, Computer Systems, or Business Administration.

  • Technical database or information management level experience involving the development, use, maintenance and modification of information systems or database tables\structure may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.

  • Two (2) years of computer experience which includes the use of Excel, Access or other database management systems, word processing and Word template use, file maintenance and entering, maintaining, modifying and reporting information (hard copy and electronic).

  • Proficiency in speaking, reading and writing English.

  • Knowledge of information technology including personal computers, software applications, wireless hardware\firmware and web design tools.

  • Keyboarding proficiency and expertise working with templates and files (hard copy and electronic).

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Certified Microsoft Office Specialist with Access certification desirable.

  • Associates Degree in Information Management, Computer Systems, or Business Administration.

  • Experience in a healthcare setting.

  • Experience as a computer system administrator.

  • Experience with database design and/or web design.

  • Database design and development skills; Microsoft Access certification a plus.

  • Knowledge and familiarity with HTML, Dreamweaver®, FrontPage, ColdFusion or other web design\application tools.

  • Ability to train/teach adult learners.
