(0.6 FTE, Day Shift) Providence is calling a Blood Management Specialist to work in our Blood Bank at Providence Regional Medical Center Everett in Everett, WA.

We are seeking a Blood Management Specialist to manage the Blood Conservation program to support the operation of 24-hour PRMCE services and be responsible for resource management, customer relations and operational standards.

In this position you will:

  • Collaborate with Surgical Services and the Blood Bank

  • Manage the PRMCE blood conservation program

  • Be a liaison with the Jehovah’s Witness (JW) community

  • Adhere to the regulatory requirements related to blood and blood products and tissue administration by nursing.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • BSN Required

  • Current RN licensure

  • Recent medical and surgical nursing experience in an acute care hospital setting

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Blood and tissue management experience

  • Knowledge and experience in blood conservation programs and JCHAO regulations

  • Knowledge of blood management and conservation techniques as related to surgery, chronic medical conditions and obstetrics

  • Knowledge of program design and development related to blood conservation and management

  • Knowledge for setting and maintaining standards of practice for blood conservation and management pre-operatively and intra-operatively

  • Knowledge of auditing standards and ensuring standards are being met

  • Advocacy with the JW patient-family and physician/surgeon in planning surgical or obstetrical care

  • Computer literacy. Able to work in Outlook, Word and Excel

  • Ability to develop PowerPoint presentations and prepare quality and research reports
